Holle formula is known for it's clean composition and supreme milk quality. The milk used in Holle formula is produced by Demeter standards which makes it superior to standard European organic certificated milk.
Only Demeter certified milk is used for Holle baby formula milk. The milk quality is directly related to the husbandry and nutrition of cows. The Demeter certification ensures that the cows have a balanced diet and produce their milk under natural living conditions.
Demeter farmers keep their animals in a manner appropriate to their nature, refraining from the painful dehorning of the cows. The horns are a natural part and important for the digestive process of the cows, which has a significant effect on the overall organism and the quality of the milk.
The result is an excellent quality of milk for your baby.
Goat's milk and cow's milk have many things in common, but are noticeably different nutritionally.
If your baby is sensitive to cow's milk protein or you have other concerns about cow's milk, Holle goat formula may be right for your baby. Goat milk has less lactose than cow's milk, which can ease digestive discomfort for certain babies.
Holle's goat milk is produced with the same level of quality as Holle's cow formula.
Holle was founded in 1933 by Albert Diefenbach in Arlsheim, Switzerland and was the first company in the world to focus on biodynamic production in compliance with Demeter guidelines. Holle is the oldest infant milk manufacturer in Europe and has since been considered the highest quality manufacturer there is.
Already more than 80 years ago, the guiding principle of Holle was a natural production in harmony with nature. From the very beginning, Holle uncompromisingly rejected any chemical processing and preservatives. Today, only raw materials from biodynamic and organic farming are used. These are gently processed for your baby and form the basis for the exceptional high quality of Holle milk .
With a commitment to soil fertility, farm animal health, and sustainability, Holle strives to holistically meet human needs through anthroposophic nutritional principles. Today, Holle company is led by Peter Kropf and Udo Fischer.
Less is more - at least when it comes to baby formula.
Studies have shown that conventional baby formula consists of preservatives and artificial flavors that can be harmful to the baby's overall health. Fortunately, awareness among parents has increased to switch to a preservative-free formula.
Many popular baby formula brands contain questionable synthetic ingredients such as lutein, lycopene, nucleotides, taurine, L-carnitine and L-methionine.
As an example, lutein is derived from conventionally grown marigolds, which are usually treated with insecticides and then extracted with the neurotoxic solvent hexane. Many parents are unaware of these types of conditions and their risks. In Europe, lutein is even banned in conventional baby food.
The National Organic Standards Board disapproves the use of the mentioned synthetic ingredients in baby milk formula. Nevertheless, most baby formula manufacturers do not comply with them.
Holle formula is completely free of synthetic ingredients and chemical preservatives. We believe that "Less Is More" when it comes to baby formula.
Demeter organic certification plays a major role in Holle's milk quality. Plenty of room to move and a fully organic diet for the cows and goats ensure an excellent milk quality in Holle formula. The milk used in Holle food comes from cows and goats raised in natural ecological conditions.
Demeter stables are designed to allow the animals to develop in a natural way, in accordance with their species and nature. They can move and lie down freely, naturally with sufficient clean bedding, as far as possible with organic straw, because the bedding is also the basis for the fertilizer so important for the Biodynamic method.
Sufficient fresh air and daylight must be provided in the barn. Dehorning of the animals is prohibited by Demeter guidelines. The use of synthetic chemical pesticides and fertilizers and genetic engineering is strictly prohibited in biodynamic agriculture, as is the addition of questionable ingredients during processing.
Breast milk tastes sweet by nature. This sweetness is essentially a result of the naturally occurring lactose in milk. Unfortunately, in order to imitate this sweetness, formula manufacturers do not always use the highest quality sugar to reduce production costs.
Luckily, in the European Union, unlike in the United States, there are regulations that ensure the quality of the sugar added to baby formula. Unlike many conventionally produced baby milks, Holle baby formula does not contain potentially dangerous fructose or sucrose. This is thanks to stricter European Union regulations. They prohibit low-grade sugars like sucrose or rice syrup completely.
Holle formula contains lactose, maltodextrin (long-chain sugar) and starch (only in Stage 3 and Stage 4) as sugars to ensure your baby a healthy start in life.
Holle baby formula is divided into stages. Each stage contains different amounts of micro- and macronutrients such as proteins, carbohydrates and fat.
Stage PRE & Stage 1: To be used from birth (Stage Pre contains only lactose as a carbohydrate).
Stage 2: To be used from the sixth month onwards.
Stage 3: To be used from the tenth month onwards.
Stage 4: To be used from the twelfth month.
